EXAMPLES

  1. You have the standard $5,000 emergency colic surgery endorsement with your Equine Mortality & Theft policy for Buddy, your 12-year-old heading horse. While away at a roping, Buddy colics and has to immediately be admitted to surgery. You call your insurance agent at Plains Horizon Equine Insurance and report the incident. The surgery is a success and Buddy is going to be fine. The vet bill is $7,500. The colic surgery endorsement reimburses you for covered expenses up to the maximum of $5,000.
  2. Your $50,000 cutting broodmare colics and goes into emergency colic surgery. You call your insurance agent at Plains Horizon Equine Insurance and report the incident. The mare comes out of the surgery, and due to several days of complications, she dies. The vet bill is $8,000. The endorsement reimburses you for covered expenses up to the maximum of $5,000 for the colic surgery and the mortality policy pays you the $50,000 value of the broodmare.
