This is an endorsement that comes with a mortality policy. It extends coverage on your horse in the case that it suffers a life-threating accident, illness, injury, disease and/or disability during the policy period. By notifying your Plains Horizon agent of the incident during your policy period and renewing coverage, your horse will be guaranteed a continuation of current coverage through age 15.

As the policy holder, you are required to report the incident to the company within the policy period.

1. You have a 10-year-old reining horse that is insured for $20,000. He overeats and founders. You call your insurance agent at Plains Horizon Equine Insurance and report the incident. When the policy comes due in the future, the horse is insured for the previous amount of $20,000. Three years later, the horse must be euthanized due to complications of the previous founder. The policy pays the value of $20,000.

2. Your 6-year-old jumping horse valued at $35,000 falls and fractures a coffin joint. You are hopeful of a recovery. You call your insurance agent at Plains Horizon Equine Insurance and report the accident. Your policy comes due and you renew it for the horse’s value prior to the accident. Your horse will be eligible for acceptance on the renewal.
